The Beehive

Charleston, South Carolina — Ongoing
Naming, logo, product labels, business cards, and apparel for a small-batch honey producer

The Brief

The Beehive is the name of our family home on Sullivan's Island, South Carolina — earned by the hives kept out back, and marked by a handpainted sign hanging above the front door. When the honey became good enough to sell, the name was already there. What it needed was a visual identity that could carry that meaning beyond the house — onto a jar label, a business card, a t-shirt, a retail shelf at a local shop.

I designed the complete identity from scratch: logo, product labels across multiple varieties, business cards, and apparel.

Naming

The Beehive is a name that does several things at once. It's literal — there are actual hives — but it also evokes community, industry, and a particular kind of organized domestic life that feels right for a small-batch, neighbor-to-neighbor operation. It's easy to say, easy to remember, and works at the scale of a jar label and a t-shirt equally well.

Applications

Apparel — a t-shirt line that turns customers into brand ambassadors, designed to feel like something people actually want to wear rather than promotional merchandise.

Business Cards — extending the identity into a professional context, for farmers markets, local retailers, and word-of-mouth sales.
